Iriss, in partnership with third sector organisations and universities, is spearheading the Voices and Visions project to explore the unique role that third sector placements play in preparing social work students for the profession. The focus of this initiative is to better understand how experience in the third sector contributes to students entering the field with confidence and readiness.
By examining the learning relationships between students, universities, practice educators, and third sector organisations, the project aims to uncover practical improvements that can enhance the student experience. These insights will help shape recommendations to ensure placements offer the best possible preparation for students entering social work.
Iriss is especially keen to hear from newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) about their placement experiences in the third sector. Your feedback will be crucial to identifying what makes these placements effective and how they can be improved to support future cohorts.
To contribute, join them for an online chat on Tuesday, October 29th, from 1-2 pm. This is a valuable opportunity for NQSWs to share their perspectives and help shape the future of social work placements.
