Important information for sponsoring agencies – agencies are asked to confirm the following information at the point of application (to be detailed in the agency reference):

  • Support for the applicant to undertake the award (in accordance with internal processes).
  • Agree to offer of a placement for a social work student commencing January/ February 2021
  • Identify (name) a suitable assessor at the point of application.
  • Agree appropriate workload relief and study time as detailed in the agency reference. Agencies are responsible for providing or meeting the cost for an assessor. If interested please contact the course co-ordinator This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for details/ requirements for undertaking the role of assessor.
  • Provide applicants with a suitable device and permission to access Adobe Connect (virtual classroom hosted by the Open University)

Capacity for Cohort 18 may be limited due social distancing measures and other government advice at the time. Where we receive more application than can reasonably be accommodated we may need to ask some applicants to defer to Cohort 19 (spring 2022).
We plan to deliver Cohort 18 using a blended approach, with a mix of face to face and virtual teaching (please see dates below for details). Face to face teaching will be dependent on government advice and social distancing measure at the time. All virtual teaching will be hosted by the Open University using the Adobe Connect platform, applicants and sponsoring agencies are responsible for ensuring they have a suitable device and permission to access Adobe Connect at the point of application.
We plan for successful applicants commencing with cohort 18 to be matched with social work students starting placement in January/ February 2022. Every effort will be made to match applicants with a student to these timescales, however as a result of the coronavirus pandemic there will be fewer students than normal starting placements at the start of 2022, so it is not possible to guarantee a suitable placement match for these dates. Where a suitable placement can’t be identified an applicant may need to be deferred to cohort 19 (spring 2022), and matched with a student starting placement in autumn 2022.
